YUYUN TSAI - 第一張椅子

那年夏天，

第一次搬進異地的紅磚公寓，

陳舊木頭的味道，伴隨撒在牆上的光束，

空無一物的房間，

想坐著喝一杯咖啡緩解長途旅行的疲憊，

想著要把書放在哪裡......

In that summer's embrace, first stepped into a foreign brownstone
The aroma of weathered wood entwined with sunlight's gentle caress
In the stark emptiness, I yearned for a quiet moment with coffee
To soothe the fatigue of my wandering soul
Pondering where my cherished books might find their home......

這是一件在普瑞特工作室製做出來的椅子，概念是創造搬進新環境後第一件可以滿足基礎功能的家具。

This is fabrication practice for furniture making. The concept is to create a very first piece or object for a new place. Thus, this stool can serve different functions, including sitting and storing. When people move to a new place, they can use it to organize their daily life in a simple way.

椅身用美洲楓木拼接打模製成，陽角交接處用胡桃木片採榫接斜接的方式固定，增加椅身細節之外，最大程度的保證了上層懸吊平台的承重能力。另一端用銅鉚釘固定頭層牛皮，除了色調上與楓木一致，也讓牛皮保有隨歲月變化的空間，讓這第一張椅子默默的為擁有者記錄著相伴的回憶。

The chair body is made from spliced American maple, with the corners joined using walnut pieces fixed in a mortise and tenon diagonal connection. This not only enhances the details of the chair body but also maximizes the load-bearing capacity of the upper suspended platform. On the other end, the top layer of cowhide is secured with copper rivets, which not only matches the tone of the maple but also allows the cowhide to age gracefully over time, enabling this first chair to quietly record the memories shared with its owner.
